Jackson chose a ramped shape on the bar ends to help keep his hands secure, and to give him something to push into when cornering.
The ridges on the underside of the grip give your fingers serious grip and control.
They’re angled inward to help promote an aggressive, elbows-out riding position and fit naturally in your hands.

"These have quickly become my favorite grip of all time! Back in the day I always ran ODI Ruffians, which to me always had the best grip. As I got older and abused my hands with working blue collar jobs I started to find the Ruffians uncomfortable. These are everything I liked about the Ruffian - thin profile and excellent grip with or without gloves, plus an incredible amount of comfort and even more grip. The rubber is quite soft on these so I expect they will be excellent in the wet but so far I've been very impressed with how comfortable they are. The extra thickness for your palm to rest on is extremely comfortable and perfectly fits my hands. I also feel like I have enough added confidence with these from the soft rubber compound, the palm support, the added ribbing underneath for fingertips, and the flange on the edge that I subconsciously don't grip them as hard and consequently have much less hand pain. I absolutely love these grips! I would like to see some more interesting colors and colorful clamp options, but I hardly care with how insanely good these are compared to literally any other grip out there!"

Goldstone grips feature a heavily tapered inner core, that helps prevent any twisting of the grip during a race run.
Given that, it's important to tap the grips on with a rubber mallet, to ensure they're fully seated against the bar-end.

OneUp grips have a core that tapers slightly at the ends. This helps hold them tight to the bar to avoid twisting. They do require a light hit with a hammer to fully seat onto your handlebar. If you find the grip is twisting, it is likely because it hasn't fully seated onto the bar. Loosen off the clamp bolt, give the end of the grip a couple hits with a hammer, and torque the clamp bolt back to 4Nm. That should resolve any twisting you're experiencing.
There is a left and right denoted by an R & L on the outer end of the grip.
Torque the lockbolt to 4Nm.
