FAQ

What's included in the bundle?

A V3 Dropper Bundle includes a V3 Dropper Post, a V3 Remote (which includes a cable, housing, ferrules and a crimp), a handlebar clamp or brake adaptor, and an additional Lever Cushion (the V3 Remote arrives with a black Cushion installed).

What size of dropper post will fit my bike?

Every rider is different, with different frames and rider inseams, etc. Your best bet is to use our Dropper Post Length Selector

You will need: Your current ride height (the distance from the top of the seat post collar to the middle of your saddle rails) and your maximum frame insertion, which you can find by inserting a rigid post or tape measure into your frame until it hits an obstruction.

Simply plug those two measurements into the calculator and we'll give you our recommendation of dropper length based on those measurements.

If you'd prefer to follow a video for these steps, we've got one for you here!

How regularly should I service my dropper post?

We recommend:

  • An upper bushing clean-and-grease every 25hrs of riding
  • A full clean and grease service every 75-100hrs of riding
  • A full rebuild every 250-350hrs of riding.
Are the seat clamps compatible with oval carbon rails?

Yes, our seat clamps are fully compatible with 7x9mm & 7x10mm carbon seat rails.

Will this post be compatible with my existing dropper remote?

Most likely, yes.

If your dropper remote has a bolt to clamp the cable, then yes, it is compatible with our dropper. If your remote does not have a cable clamp bolt (and instead requires the head/nut of the cable), you can purchase the Dropper cable/nut kit. It comes with a cable bushing that pinches the cable at the dropper-end. With this you can set up any non-cable clamping remote.

It's worth noting that our V3 Remote has been designed directly alongside the V3 dropper, and it's what we recommend using for optimal performance. It features a cam in the lever to increase cable throw as the lever moves through its range, delivering a light, snappy and responsive lever feel.

The actuator, at the bottom of the post, doesn't line up front to back?

The orientation of the actuator is dependant on the threads in the lower tube. This means the actuator orientation, once tightened up, is arbitrary and different on every post.

The actuator orientation cannot be changed without rotating the lower tube on the guide pins.

Should I change my cable housing when I'm installing a new post?

If you're installing a different length on a brand new bike, no, there's no need to replace the housing.

If you're replacing an older dropper that has been ridden, it's best practice to install new cable & housing too. This ensures that there is the least possible amount of friction in the system, which means you get the lightest, smoothest lever feel possible.

What's the minimum weight required to compress the V3 dropper?

A minimum rider weight of 50lbs is required to fully compress the post.

Make sure to apply force to the nose of your saddle, if you're close to that minimum!

Why is my post slow to extend when I actuate it?

There can be a few different reasons for slow dropper extension. The first checks should always be:

  1. Check seat collar is torqued no higher than 5Nm.
  2. Check the cable tension is correct and the cable is not kinked, binding or sluggish.
  3. Check the upper bushing is properly greased and there is no evidence of excessive wear.

If your posts continues to extend slowly then please email us at support@oneupcomponents.com and we will help resolve your situation.

Do you sell replacement upper or lower tubes?

No, we do not have upper or lower tubes available as single items.

What grease should I use to service my post?

OneUp droppers should be serviced using a light suspension grease. All droppers come with a small packet of Slickoleum, but any light suspension grease will do the trick.

We do not recommend any lubes, including fork boost on our droppers.

Flawless!

"Great quality! This thing just gets smoother. Actuates fast and gives me no headaches. I have the 210mm and it is fully inserted in my large Commencal tempo."

drop it like its hot

"Love the small improvements over the v2. At first I was scared of the closed cartridge, but it's been working flawlessly for over a full season at the moment. There's also much less bushing play when compared to the v2 and the remote feel is super light."

Maxime G. (5/5)

The best on the market

"Second V3 I've owned and I've also owned two V2s on other bikes. They're light, smooth and very low profile (maximum extension vs insertion depth. Giggity) I've never had a failure and the cartridge on my 1st V3 dropper is still performing as new after 2yrs of use."

V3 Dopper Post - *Chef's kiss*

"Super Easy install and adjustment (reduced from 210mm down to 200). Used the incredibly clear instruction on the website. Solid feeling seatpost with no wobble, really positive feel in terms of travel action and lever feel."

Q&A

Hey, Chris here from RideHub. I have a V3 dropper with the tan bushing. I went to give everything a clean recently and noticed the bushing had a bunch of chips at the bottom with the bits of plastic loose in the post. I also recently serviced another post and noticed it had a black bushing with a brass ring at the bottom. On the site looks like you have a V3.1. Is that the running change? Can I get the new bushing from you and replace the crumbling tan one?
You got it Chris! I've got one of the updated bushings heading your way. Confirmation of this will be in your email. Cheers!
V3 dropper works fine, but if hold my seat the post goes up and back down by hand. I took of tension on the cable but it makes no differences. Could it be my cartridge or something else ?
Hi Stephane, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  It sounds like your cartridge might have come unthreaded from the upper tube. If you pop the saddle off (only remove the rear bolt) and then use a 5mm hex, you should be able to thread the cartridge back into the upper tube. Let me know if that solves things, we're here to help. Cheers,
I am about to order a 180mm 31.6 post for a xl norco optic. I understand they replaced the upper plastic bushing with a 2 piece brass/plastic bushing. Do the newest posts come with the 2 piece? How can I be certain it will come with it if I purchase it through lbs?
Hi Mike, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  If purchasing through your LBS, simply undo the midcap assembly. You'll very easily be able to tell which bushing it has. If there's a tan line, it's the original. If it's black, it's the updated version. Should it be the old version, I can send you out an upgrade kit straight away. Due to the volume of posts that we've sold to our dealers I can't guarantee every post will have the updated bushing in it sorry. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
How long is your black Friday sale going to be on? I didn't realize you sold 27.2 mm posts and I'm hoping one will fit in my hardtail. It has a crimped seat tube so I need to measure that when I get home tomorrow before I can order.
Hi Paul, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  Our sale goes until the 1st of December so you still have time to place your order. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
Old school bike, external routing needed. 34.9 seatpost. Can your product work with it? Without drilling. thanks
Hi Yan, our droppers can only be used internally routed. Sorry about this!
