Q & A

Favourite place to ride?
Madeira, it’s got every type of riding you could want all on one magnificent island!

How did you get into riding?
My mum worked at Nevis Range and was part of the catering team at the first rounds of the DH World Cup. Growing up watching these races got me obsessed with the sport.

Favourite trail of all time?
There is a trail in Madeira, I can’t remember the name of the trail but the only way to access it is a long hike and through several tunnels! It has the best dirt I have ever ridden and matched with fast gullies and perfect corners it is a dream to ride!

Favourite rider to watch?
My favourite rider to watch would probably be Loris Vergier. When he puts together a Downhill run it looks so effortless and smooth but the speed is outrageous.

Favourite food / colour / movie?
Favourite food, pesto pasta… Although fresh out the oven bread with a generous spreading of salted butter is pretty close! Favourite movie would have to be Hot Rod. I have watched it waaaaaay too many times but it just gets better every time!

What are you into outside of bikes?
Outside of bikes, I love skiing however sadly I don’t ski anywhere near as much as I would like! Surfing is also something I’m really into, ever since my girlfriend introduced me to surfing four years ago I’ve been out getting battered by waves every opportunity I get!

Scariest riding moment of all time?
My scariest ever riding moment would have to be when I went over the bars all the way past the landing to flat on the finish line jump in Leogang 2017. A sensation I would really appreciate never experiencing again haha.

Favourite OneUp product and why?
My favourite OneUp product would have to be the EDC tool, it has absolutely everything you could need yet is still small, light and easy to use.

If you're put on the spot and have to tell a story, what is the story you tell?
This would have to be my first van trip to Europe with my friends to race World Cups when I was 17… Everything went wrong, we missed check in to our hotel so decided to drive through the night, got pulled over by armed police in France at 2am, then the next day we got fined for crashing into the wall at a McDonald’s drive through, within 20mins of that we got another fine for not having bought a motorway toll sticker and this all lead to missing track walk, only just getting signed on in time and then having to ride Val di Sole completely blind for practice… It was a pretty eventful trip!

Favourite trick, to do or to see done?
When it comes to tricks my mind is blown seeing what the slopestyle guys can do! However nothing can beat a stylish whip, sometimes the simplest things are the best to watch!

Who would you be if you could be any non-mountain bike athlete?
Candide Thovex, to be able to ski like him would feel absolutely insane!

Air or coil shock?
Need to do some more testing to be sure but at the moment it’s coil for me.
