POSITION SUMMARY

The Managing Director will be responsible for the leadership, executing a multi-year strategy and the day-to-day management of the business, including Finance, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and Logistics. This position will oversee and lead the strategic direction of the brand and establish goals and objectives in line with the growth ambition of the brand and portfolio group. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Vision and Leadership 

  • Refine the brand’s strategic plan to realize the mission and vision, taking a long-term view of the organization’s successes and opportunities
  • Provide leadership and direction of overall global business functions, including commercial and product development department
  • Lead brand’s Management Team in developing and executing growth strategy; communicate and clarify organizational goals to the internal brand team and parent company

Financial and Operational Results 

  • Focus on achieving agreed-upon outcomes and ensure that key objectives are met with a sense of urgency and drive to bring issues to closure
  • Aim to improve upon past performance and establish and achieve aggressive personal targets
  • Fully manage the company’s P&L, ensuring the achievement of financial targets and growth objectives 

Organizational Development and Talent 

  • Build and maintain effective collaboration and team spirit across the brand
  • Inspire trust and support others through authenticity and following up on commitments
  • Develop and continuously improve on best practice organizational structure, policies, programs, and departmental processes to support the company’s established strategy
  • Build personal credibility within the organization through strong management and interpersonal skills, sound business judgment and genuine care and concern for colleagues and employees

  

SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED

  • 10+ years experience in consumer goods, with 5-10 years in a senior role leadership within product or commercial leadership in an International organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • Strong preference for sporting goods/outdoor/ bicycle industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in successful strategy development and execution
  • Previous leadership experience in global product marketing and go-to-market strategies
  • Understanding of market research and industry trends, with the ability to translate the competitive landscape and consumer feedback into strategies and product design
  • Entrepreneurial approach to operating and growing a business unit, with direct responsibility for P&L management
  • Ability to convey enthusiasm to others, well-developed leadership skills, proven ability to train, coach and inspire subordinates and peers to achieve their personal best
  • Ability to establish rapport and relate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as business associates outside the company
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills. Ability to set priorities and meet reasonable deadlines consistently
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Experience with launching products in new international markets
  • Strong acumen in manufacturing in Asia and Europe with a deep understanding of International Logistics
  • Deep understanding of shareholder value creation

  

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time Role: 9 workdays every two weeks. Yes, that's 3-day weekends every other week
  • Hours: 8-hour workdays with a 30-minute paid lunch break
  • Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000 CAD per year, plus 17 days vacation days per year, 11 BC statutory holidays
  • Benefits: After a 3-month probationary period, the role includes a comprehensive benefits package with no cost health and dental coverage, optional interest-free bike loan program, paid sick time beyond the provincial minimum and access to industry purchasing
